Puppet Hockey turns ice hockey into a fast 1v1 match between big-headed puppet players. Choose a national team, then control one player who must handle both scoring and defense. The goal is simple: put more pucks in the opposing net before time runs out.

How to Play Puppet Hockey

Each standard match lasts 60 seconds. Move across the compact rink, chase the puck, and hit it toward the opponent’s net. When possession changes, retreat quickly and position your puppet between the puck and your own goal. There is no separate goalkeeper, so leaving the net exposed can turn a rebound into an immediate scoring chance.

A tied score sends the match into 20 seconds of overtime. Winning moves you on to another opponent in the game’s international tournament structure, so each short round contributes to your run toward the championship.

Tips and Tricks for Puppet Hockey

  • Protect the goal first: Stay between the puck and your net when your opponent has the attack. A defensive position also gives you a better chance to block or clear the next shot.
  • Use jumps with purpose: Jump for airborne pucks or to interrupt a shot, but save the move for the right moment instead of jumping constantly.
  • Create space before shooting: A small gap from the opponent gives you room to swing and aim the puck toward the net.
  • Attack rebounds: The compact rink produces quick bounces and changes of possession. Near the opponent’s goal, keep striking when the puck comes back into reach.
  • Time close jump shots: Near the opposing net, combine a jump with a shot to reach the puck and catch the defense out of position.
