Rocket League turns soccer into a vehicle battle: drive a rocket-powered car, hit the ball into the opposing goal, and finish with more goals before time expires. Every touch changes the ball’s path, so speed alone won’t carry a match.
How to Play Rocket League
Matches put two teams in an arena. You accelerate, turn, jump, and boost to challenge the ball, defend your net, or set up a scoring chance. Common team sizes are 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3.
Boost pads around the arena refill the resource that lets your car accelerate quickly and take to the air. Spend it carelessly and you may not have enough to recover for a save. A jump can block a shot or meet the ball above the field, while air control helps you adjust the contact angle.
Ball Cam keeps the ball in view, which helps when deciding whether to challenge, rotate back, or wait for the next touch.
Positioning and Boost Tips
Don’t follow the ball on every play. After an attack, rotate toward your own goal so the team is not left without a defender. Watch the ball’s likely path and take position before committing.
Save boost for moments that demand a fast recovery, aerial challenge, or counterattack. Free Play is useful for practicing clean touches and ball control without match pressure. Start with positioning and teamwork before relying on advanced aerial shots, wall plays, or dribbles.
